What can we learn from trees in autumn?

We can't change the past, but if we do something now, we can change our future

Have you ever wondered, what is one of the biggest things you can do now to change your future?

When we think about "choosing to do something today that our future self will thank us for", as actor Sean Patrick Flanery encourages - typically we think of improving our health, sorting out a pension, gaining a qualification. We very rarely think of leaning in, living more fully in the moment, and letting go of our baggage

The truth is, one of the biggest ways we can improve our futures, is by letting go of the rubbish that a lot of us carry around in our heads today

We spend our entire lives in our minds, yet very few of us ensure they are a great place to be by carrying out a regular practice of tidying up, chucking out and organising what is in there - a bit like trees letting go of their leaves in autumn

This means most of us spend our lives with messy, complex, unfounded lies which we tell ourselves about who we are, what we are capable of and even what we should do with our lives. At Progressfull, we call these beliefs, behaviours and mind-sets which hold us back - Restricting practices

So, in truth, one of the biggest things we can do today that our future selves will thank us for is to let go of the beliefs, behaviours, and mind-sets which restrict and hold us back from leaning in, unlocking our potential, and making progress in our lives

For a lot of us, leaning in means letting go of the beliefs, behaviours, and mind-sets to do with anxiety and fear. Feelings of stress and anxiety we have become used to living with. Fear we can't cope with the challenges of life which are out of our control, fear of failure, fear we might not be good enough, fear we can't do things or even letting go of being comfortable doing and being just as we are. Act as if we are a tree in autumn letting go of its leaves

I must admit, I found it quite a revelation when I realised that in today's world there are people (not many, I grant you that) who are calm and poised, no matter what challenges life throws at them. People who lean in and consciously manage their own baggage, so they are able to let go of it and face challenges with a calm, clear head

Once I realised this - this became my new 'aspirational'

Leaning in and letting go of restricting beliefs, behaviours, and mind-sets became the thing I wanted to do now which my future self will thank me for. And, dear reader, I did it!

What's more you can too - the great news is we have some help

The great news is to help us do this, Progressfull have created a Progresslift (our name for a chapter) called 'Leaning in and letting go' where we share content and tools to help you develop the belief's, behaviours, and mind-sets that help you Show Up, lean in and stop using your energy for fear, stress and anxiety, for how things might go wrong

Let’s use our emotional energy to help ourselves and Show Up, be present, in the moment, every day, step by step by step, bite by bite leaning in and letting go, revealing who we truly are and realising that we are enough

We share the content and tools and also how you can adopt and apply them to your own life, in our Showing Up Upskill (our name for course or masterclass) - this is what I did, and I am living proof that it works!

Tap the link here to discover more about how you can do something today which your future self will truly thank you for - leaning in and letting go, living a life of progress, realising that you too can be calm, poised and face any challenges that comes your way - head on!

That’s what we can learn from trees in autumn
