The secret super power you never knew you needed…

According to Harvard, recent research confirms what the Ancient Greeks already knew - the practice of self-reflection may well be the secret super power you never knew you needed

We agree, in fact we believe the practice of purposeful self-reflection is a key foundation stone on which a life of progress is built – so we can make progress in all areas of our life – at work, at home, our whole life

We all know that to succeed in the 21st century of work, soft skills are key. Soft skills are what make us human, soft skills allow us to connect, to innovate, to be agile and are what differentiates us from artificial intelligence and ultimately – like love – do in fact make our world go round

But the one soft skill which beats all others in the game we call life – is purposeful self-reflection

This is because it is about looking backwards and learning from our experiences and then looking forwards, making a conscious decision to take action based on this reflection. It could be repeating things which have gone well, adapting our approach, or changing our approach completely. In fact, it is almost impossible to succeed in life without regularly reflecting on our beliefs, behaviours and mind-sets. Unless we regularly review the days, which add up to our lives, we cannot see what is and isn’t working and we can’t do more of the good stuff and less of the bad stuff – so we don’t make progress and we don’t fulfil our potential

Sounds obvious. In fact, in a business context we would call it essential product testing, yet very few of us apply it to our own lives. It’s actually a bit odd that more of us don’t, when you think of it like that, Socrates famously agreed:

“The unexamined life is not worth living”

However, some people, in fact a lot of people – do actually disagree with Socrates. For a lot of people self-reflection is self-indulgent naval gazing. A narcissistic behaviour which at best may result in a calmer mind but all too often ends up in negative rumination. And that’s where Progressfull comes in – because we believe in ‘purposeful’ self-reflection. Not just self-reflection for the sake of it

So what is purposeful self-reflection?

Purposeful self-reflection is a process and practice we have created at Progressfull™Purposeful self-reflection combines the benefits of journaling and coaching and is a proven method of accessing valuable personal insights, independently of another individual

What’s even better, is that you only need 10 minutes of this regular practice to examine your life and become a first-rate you

Want to learn purposeful self-reflection? Here’s how…there are 3 key steps…

For the first step - you don’t need anything apart from a desire to change, to progress, and to do something to help yourself

The second step - is to experience our transforming 5 Progressfull™ Principle Upskills (our name for a course/masterclass). The 5 Progressfull™ Principles define our “true north” our personal compass and give us a real sense of “where we are heading”

We reference the 5 Progressfull™ Principles as pp like on a letter - derived from the Latin 'procurare' meaning ‘to take care of'. The 5 Progressfull™ Principles are designed to help you take care of yourself

Each Progressfull™ Principle has associated practices. These practices are the basis for all regular, purposeful self-refection. We call these Progressfull™ practices as you can apply them moment by moment, step by step, day by day. They enable you to become more and more progressfull

Understanding where we are heading, understanding how we can support ourselves to progress, and understanding how we can hold ourselves back from progress - are the keys that unlock a life full of progress

You can experience the 5 Progressfull™ Principles practical step by step guides as pre-recorded videos – like podcasts with pictures. We share insights, principles and practices to enlighten, inform and inspire you. This is the support we give you, this is the second step

The third step - is building your bench-strength in our transformational framework, the ARTT of progress™. The ARTT of progress™ is our purposeful self-reflection process and practice which turns your learning into commitments and action

What’s more - this purposeful self-reflection only takes 10 minutes, so we literally Take 10 for the ARTT of progress

The ARTT of progress™ is the methodology or the approach that helps you to identify your insights (Assess), Relate them to your circumstances, personal motivation and personal benefits, then turn them into concrete commitments and practical actions you will 'put into practice' (Take action)

The extra T in ARTT is Take stock. This is part of the ARTT of progress™ and key in the Progressfull™ approach. Take stock happens in a number of ways and we will support you to build your bench-strength in each

Taking 10 minutes on a regular basis creates a pattern or a rhythm...

Take 10 for the ARTT of Progress™ supports you after the Upskill by enabling you to easily incorporate an on-going practice of purposeful self-reflection into your life. This regular practice of Take 10 to reflect on your ARTT of Progress™, means you only need to find 10 minutes to benefit, discover new insights, master your actions and track your achievements…

“What’s my knowledge, what insights am I gaining, what have I learned about myself, where do I want to focus my efforts and energy? What do I want to do differently? What step can I take today? Thinking of my day ahead, what insights would be helpful for me to apply, what steps can I take?"...

...so, we are moving away from the overindulgence of journaling and self-reflection to utilising journaling and self-reflection as a means to an end – the end is the step, is the progress is the Take action and the Take stock. This is why it’s only 10 minutes – not 11, not 15, simply 10 – it helps focus our mind on the important priorities for the day ahead

The guided journey of the Upskills, introducing us to ARTT and the Releasing and Restricting practices, combined with regular purposeful self-reflection is what makes real progress. We make real progress because ARTT is designed to work with the brain, not against it, using our energy for real learning and doing

So that’s how you learn the secret superpower of purposeful self-reflection!
