Progressfull Mind-set Morning routine – how to 'sort yourself out' and 'set yourself up' for a fulfilling day
There is a lot of chat about morning routines and we at Progressfull have something to share with you on this topic
Well, to be honest with you, often the very first thing our high performing clients say, from 16 year old students, to artisan bakers, to assistant directors in the film and tv industry, through to CEOs of conglomerates or start-ups – is that they are on the edge of burn-out. Overwhelmed by pressure – both from others and also from our own high standards - most of us have too much to do in too little time.
At Progressfull, our response to this is pretty stark. Honestly, if you really want to achieve great things at work, at home, in your whole life – especially without burning out – quite simply you don’t have time to NOT find the time for self-care and self-development. To make this happen consistently, in reality - for most people often the first and most practical, effective step, is to sort out a great morning routine
This is because how we start the morning can be the single most important investment of our time each day. Time which not only helps us set the tone for the rest of the day – before any interference from the outside world - but also keeps us calm, grounded and focussed on our own life, our own path - so we can make the most out of every opportunity our day brings
When we create a regular Progressfull morning routine of investing in our self-care and self-development we see ourselves as a work in progress – we are acting from what psychologists call a ‘resourceful state’. We are clear on who we are and how we want to be, we are on our own path, with our own values, our own choices and our own decisions about how we want to navigate our unique way through life
The word routine is important because the simple act of putting ourself through a series of familiar, habitual steps which we repeat every day tells our system that we are in a place of control and safety – this helps us set ourselves up for our day feeling poised, calm and that we have already made progress. This helps build momentum and positive energy which in turn helps us focus on getting even more things done, no matter what our day may bring!
Typically, most wellbeing and high performance experts agree that a great morning routine includes some form of movement, some form of meditation, and often something to get our mind-set into the right place for our day ahead. From weights, to yoga, to pilates, to walking the dog - we know about our choices for movement, a lot of us no know about meditation, but what can we all do on a practical level about mind-set? How do we make our mind’s a great place to be?
Affirmations? Journaling? Reading?
