So many of us are fed up of feeling overwhelmed. We are bored with our own catastrophising. We are drained by the lack of hope and optimism. We want to swap this feeling so often labelled as 'overwhelm' for a feeling that we can face any challenge that comes our way head on, roll with the punches and enjoy - even relish - the ride!
The truth is, for a lot of us, we can improve our lives dramatically by letting go of the rubbish that a lot of us carry around in our heads today about how life should be, without challenges or difficulties, and start to Show Up, roll with the punches and actually enjoy the ride of this wild thing we call life
We spend our entire lives in our minds, yet very few of us ensure they are a great place to be by carrying out a regular practice of tidying up, chucking out and organising what is in there to make sure we are able to enjoy the daily challenges of life with a wink and a smile, rather than a weep and a sulk
What you might be interested to know is that having coached over 1,000 global senior executives, people who the outside world often label 'high performers', the consistent challenge and theme that comes up is how to stay strong when adversity strikes
Sound familiar?
So when you look around you will see there is a big need for people to be equipped and empowered with the mind-sets and tools to effectively Show Up. Swapping sulking, wishing the challenges we all face in our daily lives will simply go away, for winking at these challenges, relishing the highs and the lows, which a life well-lived brings
In today's world, we really don't talk about this enough
So what is Showing Up?
Showing Up is about being able to deal with life's challenges, to embrace and even enjoy the difficulties we all face and relish the ambiguity of life
Showing Up is about being able to reveal our true character or true nature - and this requires courage and vulnerability
Courage and vulnerability are the essence of what we are doing when we reveal ourself, we are being open, being open about our commitments, our accountabilities, where we are weak and where we are strong
In revealing our true nature we challenge ourselves to be seen, just as we are, even with all our imperfections we are still able to bounce back from difficulties and disappointments. That is our true nature as a human being. Showing Up teaches us how to reveal our true nature and wink at the challenge!
Showing Up is all about us being there, being present, in the moment, holding our ground, facing any challenge head on. Allowing ourselves to be seen, to be real is part of the challenge and beauty of Showing Up, giving ourselves permission and revealing ourselves is about us accepting that we are good enough, with all our wonkiness, our breaks, knocks and imperfections
Welcoming the vulnerability and consistently ensuring that we are in the present, here, now, today, moment by moment, step by step, when we fall, when we have missteps, when we fail
As Rachel Remen says,
I must admit, I found it quite a revelation when I realised that in today's world there actually are people (not many, I grant you that) who are calm and poised, no matter what challenges life throws at them. People who lean in and consciously manage their own baggage, so they are able to let go of it and face challenges with a calm, clear head - and even a wink!
Once I realised this - this became my new 'aspirational'
The great news is to help us do this, Progressfull have created an Upskill (our name for a course) called Showing Up where we share content and tools to help you develop the beliefs, behaviours, and mind-sets that help you Show Up
We've picked the best insights, frameworks and tools from behavioural psychology, neuroscience and philosophy to create the models and content in Showing Up, so you can face the challenge, enjoy the difficulty and relish the ambiguity of life
We will equip and enable you to consistently and confidently Show Up
Our Showing Up Upskill builds your capability to deal with the pressures and ambiguity of life, enabling you to truly be there, being present in the moment, holding your ground, facing any challenge that comes your way - head on - and even with a wink!
