The thing is, if you are anything like me - you will thrive, your energy and your ability to get more done - will often be linked to feeling upbeat and positive. Am I right?
This is where I am lucky working with Jo - what I love about working with Jo (who is incidentally a super humble hermit and despite regular attempts to get her onto the global stage - she happily remains quietly incognito) - is that she does not only have the most determined strength of mind and intellectual horsepower I have ever come across - crammed into what is, let's face it, quite a small body - but she is also great fun - she has an infectious giggle and an ability to see the light side in almost any situation - so because she has taught me a few tips and tools - despite external pressures and having busy lives - we get a lot done!
In fact, positive feedback for Jo over 25 years has consistently highlighted two seemingly contradictory things. The vast majority of the 14,000 super talented, successful people she has worked with, have been impressed by Jo’s ability to be fun, playful and light-hearted as well as Jo's strength and determination to excel
One Vice President of EMEA for a global technology firm summed it up this way, “Jo I’ve been trying to decipher what makes you so excellent at what you do and so different, it’s in large part because you haven’t lost what most of us have. You have kept your childlike approach. Everything seems so light yet profound at the same time. You are fun yet deliberate, you are serious and playful, you have exceptional standards yet don’t take yourself seriously, you keep your spirits up even in the most testing of times. Whatever you do don’t lose this - bottle it and sell it!”
I think you'll agree with us - this fun, playful light-heartedness combined with a strength and determination to excel is rarely seen. Observing over 14,000 senior execs, high performers, and high potential business people - very few have this similar approach - I certainly didn't have!
Nearly all successful adults, it seems, tend to be weighed down by the responsibilities of work and life, we have forgotten the joy, the delight, the wonder, and awe that we had as children - and frankly - just think about the impact this has on our own children - how sad is that?
The great news for us and also our loved ones, is that this fun, playful light-heartedness - combined with a strength and determination to excel can be learned. This is truly great news because neuroscience recently confirmed that play is our brain's best way of learning - which Einstein would agree with - given he said,
We decided to share the research and learning that Jo applies and have called it Being Playful. We will share the most useful and most practical tips and tools for you to relearn how to be playful in our Being Playful Upskill (our name for a course or masterclass)
Sound good? I think so - just ask your children!
